We hope you enjoy the serenity of the forest during your visit here in the Cone. Here is our recommended activities at Fløyen.
Playground, troll forest and educational path
If you brought your children it might be a good idea to spend some energy before you settle down among the trees. Close by The Cone you find the “Three Billy Goats Gruff”-bridge that you can cross. Perhaps there is a troll underneath? Across the river lies the trail Trolløypa where they can challenge their balance and coordination. There is a large playground where you can greet the Troll of Fløyen, it offers sliding, climbing and swinging
If you dare you can venture into the exciting and mysterious Troll Forest by Fløistuen Kafé. Here the children can explore and be guided by their imagination, as the sides of the path is full of different troll creatures and small obstacles for them to pass. At the field Fløysletten there is a cabin that serves for small breaks with a possibility for grilling.
Further along the Troll forest lies the climbing park. Are you able to pass the obstacle course without touching the ground? Are you brave enough to face the zip line head-on? Located at the end of the park is a great tower challenge. The bravehearted that ascend the over 10-meter-tall tower is rewarded a fun slide the way down.
Greet the goats
Our goats are cuddly and enjoy company very much. There is a poster on the side of the small barn with pictures and accompanying names: Pippi, Fløydis, Waldemar, Spot, Trym, Gucci, Stjerna, Frøya, Ferdinand and Alex. The Cone offers a view of the barn where they usually reside. Please take a selfie together – they love the spotlight!
Enjoy an evening stroll in the forest
The serenity of Fløyen at night time is one of a kind! We recommend a short evening stroll to the idyllic pond Skomakerdiket. This is a nice path that will circle back to The Cone in about half an hour.
If you wish to take a longer route, you will find a path that takes you from Skomakerdiket to the lodge Fjellhytten and the mountains Blåmanen and Rundemanen. The weather can change quickly in the mountains so remember to dress appropriately.
Fløirestauranten
The newly renovated Fløirestauranten is open from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM every day. Visit Brasseriet for a flavorful lunch or dinner, or simply relax in Peisestuen with a cup of cocoa, coffee, or a drink. See menus here.
Fløistuen kafé
Fløistuen kafé is a small and charming café where one can enjoy the warmth inside, or the fresh mountain air out on the terrace. Enjoy a cup of cocoa with whipped cream or freshly brewed coffee. We can also tempt you with Norwegian buns, cakes, sandwiches and a variety of ice creams and the tallest soft serve in the city – not without your favourite sprinkles on top of course. There is also a selection of snacks like chocolate and nuts that you can easily bring with you on a hike. See opening hours here.
Skomakerstuen
Skomakerstuen café is open every Saturday and Sunday including some holidays from 11:00-16:00. With only a ten minute walk from the top station of Fløyen you will find yourself situated at the idyllic Lake Skomakerdiket – accommodated with a cosy heated lounge.
