Beware of the Trolls...!
A marked trail from the top station leads you to the Troll forest, home to the mysterious inhabitants of Mount Fløyen. Trolls were fearsome creatures in Norse mythology and old Norwegian fairy tales, and one of the thing we are best known for in this little country we call Norway.
An evening walk in the Troll Forest at Mount Fløyen is an excellent opportunity for troll-spotting, since the sun turns them into stone. And if the weather is bad, with rain or fog, it makes the experience even more exciting and mysterious.
As you probably know, the view from Mount Fløyen is beautiful by day (actually it is ranked as one of the worlds ten most beautiful city views). But you should take the Funicular up in the evening – because Fløyen is a great spot to see the sunsets. And not to mention the view by night! All the lights from the city makes it look like a big treasure chest of sparkling gold.
PS. The last funicular returns to the city at 23:00 by night.
